Thing 16 = Learn about Wikis
Weni, Widi, Wiki.
"We're sorry; the video is no longer available." YouTube
Look, I know I'm behind in my assignments but I'm working part time.
Is there a part timers handicap?
Yes, I'm starting week 7 and it's week 10...
Isn't technology grand, Liza?
Where is Santa, Virginia?
Ah, what a difference a day makes...
Hooray, the video played!
Wow, I can use wikis at work with staff whom I seldom see face to face, to organize group projects like YA school summer reading lists, at school to create project handouts for/with faculty and students, with stage crew for props, at home with my kids for chores, with Girl Scouts for camping... the list may be endless.
Library success wiki:
Organization of site is impressive and easy to use.
Readers' advisory, teen reader's advisor = how to connect with your teen patrons.
Selling your library = error 404 for specific blogs...
disappointing not to access sites...
ROI = list of questions to consider when purchasing titles, ie. family entertainment dollars saved by offering free programs at the public library.
Library bloggers wiki:
Austin TX Public wants to "promote life-long learning, literacy, and love of reading to the public so they can enrich the quality of their lives."
Sounds great to me! My goals, too. Austin TX Public's blog highlights different issues for each post, from recommended trilogy reading to is Google always the best site, listing alternative databases for health and law questions.
OCL may want to follow this idea, of a daily public info forum.
Albany NY Public's wiki is designed "to provide documentation to library staff on how to do things. This is editable by all library staff."
OCL may want to add a procedures wiki for staff.
